WASHINGTON – A Maryland second-grader who was suspended after chewing a pastry into the shape of a gun and aiming it at other students won’t get his record cleared — at least for now.
The Washington Post reports that a lawyer for the boy says Anne Arundel County school officials offered to change the reason for the suspension to “general disruption” and remove references to the pastry gun. But they wouldn’t take it off his record.
The boy’s family now plans to appeal to the school system’s superintendent.
This story has been corrected to remove a reference saying that the pastry was a Pop-Tart.
